ABL is an online teaching program that brings the meaning of American text abbreviations into the daily lives of Chinese students (e.g. “ppl” as “people”, and “hbd” as “happy birthday”). These are common phrases in our daily lives, yet Chinese students are rarely exposed to these social cultures. In addition, our curriculum will also include lessons on American pop culture and slang. Through this program, we hope to help Chinese students to build a connection between English and the American culture.
