08/14 Class Notes

Today, I taught Cora about buying ice cream. I always like to give a brief introduction to a lesson so I asked her what her favorite flavor of ice cream is. She didn’t have a preference and said that she likes all of the flavors. During the teaching session, I realized that she likes to substitute words in the dialogue with synonyms that she already knew. I think what she is doing is great because it helps her understand the meaning of words better when she actually thinks about it. I also noticed that sometimes she will say she knows a term but when I ask her, she doesn’t know it anymore. I think what I can improve on is repetitively asking her what a term means so she actually understands it.
