This week, my students and I studied the fifth lesson of the third-grade textbook. During last week’s class, we watched a video about the Mid-Autumn Festival together. They are Chang'e flying to the moon, Wu Gang cutting the moon, and Houyi shooting the sun. We discussed these because we had a lot of time leftover, and because I want them to understand Chinese cultures along with the language itself. In the future, I will adjust the content of the class based on recent events. Recently it was the Mid-Autumn Festival, so I showed these videos to the students. My students could recall the content of the video very well after watching the video, except they forgot the names of the main characters. I am pleased with their progress overall.
