Today I taught the Hawaii students about ages and numbers. They are very familiar with “Language Box'' now. After they completed their 20 minutes self-learning session, I lectured them on this lesson and translated the dialogues into English. I also asked them about information they heard in the conversation. For example, when person 2, an eight year old boy, said “我弟弟比我小三岁 (my brother is three years younger than me)” I had students calculate the age of the younger brother. These questions get them to think more about the actual meanings of the Chinese words they are saying. Then, Yanni showed them a short video on ancient Chinese clothings. The video shows the evolution of Chinese clothing fashions throughout different dynasties. This class was well timed and Yanni and I worked perfectly with each other.
